David Arquette Surprises Fans by Agreeing to Wrestle in Fishkill
Actor David Arquette will be taking time off from filming his latest project to throw on some tights and jump in the ring for Hudson Valley fans.
Arquette is currently in Newburgh, working on his latest film titled Apalachin. The movie tells the story of a legendary meeting in Apalachin, NY between the heads of several mafia families back in 1957.
Back in 2000, after staring in the film Ready to Rumble, Arquette entered the real world of professional wrestling. A few celebrity appearances turned into a short-lived wrestling run, where Arquette found surprising success in the ring. The Scream actor eventually became the WCW World Heavyweight Champion.
After retiring from wrestling in 2000, Arquette went back to acting. But recently, he surprised fans by jumping back into the ring. In July Arquette reignited his wrestling career during a Champion Wrestling From Hollywood bout.
Apparently, Arquette still has the wrestling bug. On Monday night Northeast Wrestling made a surprise announcement that the actor would be entering the ring on September 14. According to a Facebook post, Arquette will be teaming up with The Hurricane Shane Helms to battle against King Brian Anthony and Lord Anthony Battle.
The wrestling event was scheduled to take place at the Fishkill Rec Center on Route 52 but has since been changed to the Hudson Valley Community Center in Poughkeepsie.
