Could Snow and Rain Impact Saturday's St. Patrick's Parade?

The annual Dutchess County St. Patrick's Day Parade is scheduled for this Saturday, but so is some nasty weather.

It's one event that everyone in Dutchess County looks forward to every year. The annual parade brings together community organizations and business from across the area to march down Market Street through the Village of Wappingers Falls.

But will the weather cooperate this year?

Earlier this week, forecasters were calling for snowfall throughout Saturday and Sunday. But now, things are starting to look a little better. Currently, there is a 40% chance of precipitation on Saturday. Meteorologists are calling for snow to quickly change over to rain in the afternoon. While we still may see some snow or rain, it's now not expected to be a major storm.

I've participated in the St. Patrick's Day parade for decades now, and have done it dressed in everything from short sleeves to a heavy winter coat and hat. This year the temperature during the parade is expected to be in the 30's.

Regardless of the weather, the yearly parade is always a fun day for everyone involved. This year's festivities will begin early with a fun run through the Village before the parade steps off at 1pm. Expect road closures in the area throughout the afternoon.
