Alligator sightings have seemingly been everywhere this summer, even in places where you don't normally spot them. The foul-tempered reptiles usually keep to the southern states, anywhere from Texas to the Carolinas. But now they seem to be moving north, which means they're probably being kept as pets and then somehow escape, or be released into the wild.

Just on Monday, Chicago's own infamous alligator was finally caught in Humboldt Park Lagoon (the gator was even named "Chance the Snapper", after hip-hop star Chance the Rapper).

Now it appears we've got more gators popping up in the Northeast.

Fox is reporting that a juvenile alligator was spotted in Powers Lake in East Lyme, Connecticut. The East Lyme Public Safety Department took to Facebook to warn the public:

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is investigating the report of an alligator sighting in Powers Lake in East Lyme. The alligator is reported to be one foot in length.

While one foot is certainly nothing to get too worried over, it's still quite unusual to see gators in this part of the country. Fox says that resident sin that part of Connecticut are encouraged to contact DEEP if they have any information.
