The annual ranking of public schools across the country was released.

With back to school season in full swing, Niche has released their list of the best public schools in the country. Patch reports that of the 100 top public schools in New York, 27 Hudson Valley schools made the cut.

Niche ranked public schools across America on a few factors to come up with their list. They compared data from the U.S. Department of Education, test scores, college data, and ratings collected their site users.

The best public school in the United States, according to Niche, is Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora, Illinois. The best public school in New York is Stuyvesant High School located in Manhattan. 

As for the Hudson Valley, the best public school is Scarsdale Senior High School, ranking as the seventh best public school in New York. The next best ranked in New York were Horace Greely High School at number 12 and Mamaroneck High School, at number 15.
