It might be the influence of the delicious programs on the Food Network. It could be because the Hudson Valley is home to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. It might be because we are more aware of all of our locally sourced ingredients thanks to local farming. Add to that our increased cultural diversity and you may have the reason why we have some amazing specialty food shops in our area.

The list of nine specialty food shops I have gathered together for this article is by no means a complete list of places you can shop for specialty foods in the Hudson Valley. Chances are, there is a place in your town or village that is offering some of these great local and imported items. If you discover one we should add to the list, please let us know! We want to spread the word.
