Looks like the folks at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que decided to have a little fun with New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft getting busted for soliciting prostitution. The post went viral all over the internet. Now it looks like their joke may have backfired.

Was it just a harmless jab? Or does it make light of victims of sexual exploitation and human sex trafficking?

According to the New York Daily News, the New York restaurant chain posted on Facebook and Twitter that their Syracuse location was serving something new called the "Robert Kraft," which is their jerked and pulled chicken sandwich. The now-deleted posts went on to say that if you purchased the "Robert Kraft" this week only, a portion of the earnings would go a Syracuse child advocacy center.

The 77-year-old N.F.L. team owner was charged Friday in connection with an alleged prostitution and human trafficking sting at the Orchids of Asia Day Spa in Jupiter. FL. Kraft allegedly visited the spa on January 19, and January 20.

Some on social media weren't really feeling the BBQ spot's joke, as users criticized Dinosaur. Sayracuse.com reports that Dinosaur Bar-B-Que reps issued this statement Monday:

It was a joke that we didn’t completely think through. We apologize to anyone who was offended from the human trafficking aspect.

The locally famous Dinosaur Bar-B-Que was founded in Syracuse in 1988. It has six locations statewide, including restaurants in Troy, Buffalo, Brooklyn, and Harlem. There are two out-of state spots: one in Newark, NJ, and one in Stamford, CT.
