Hudson Valley Wine Named 'Best Chardonnay in the World'

In a blind wine tasting, a couple of Hudson Valley wines beat out competitors from all over the world.

According to NYup.com, the 19th annual International Wine Competition judged 2,255 wines from around the world. The 19th annual Finger Lakes International Wine Competiton, one of the largest charitable wine contests held in the United States, was held on April 13 and 14.

Hudson Valley wineries walked away as winners in two categories. Baldwin Vineyards of Pine Bush grabbed a medal for their Apple Wine in the fruit wine category. The most impressive win, however, came from an Ulster County winery.

The title of "Best Chardonnay" in the world went to Whitecilff Vineyard and Winery located in Gardiner. Their 2017 Reserve Chardonnay topped all of the other entries from around the globe.

Proceeds from the annual wine competition to go benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times of Rochester. A full list of the winners is available on the competition's website.
