A tragic death in the Adirondacks is just another reminder for hikers to be careful.

New York state forest rangers discovered the body off a 61 year-old hiker who reportedly died of hypothermia.

The Associated Press reports that the body of Hua Davis was found Saturday on the summit of MacNaughton Mountain, near Lake Placid. Her body was taken to Adirondack Medical Center.

The woman from Wilmington, Delaware apparently set out alone Friday night. Temperatures that night fell to close to zero.

The top of MacNaughton Mountain reaches 3,983 feet.

The Saranac Laker 6er Facebook page said David was the group's 1,000th member, having climbed McKenzie, Ampersand, Scarface, St. Regis, Haystack and Baker mountains in the Adirondacks. Davis had posted on the group's Facebook page on Thursday, "On the way to Bag the 6 peaks."

"We are saddened and sorry for her passing and extend our condolences to her family," the Saranac Laker 6er Facebook page posting said.
