Antique Appraising Roadshow Coming to Hudson Valley
You can find out if those old pieces of memorabilia, artwork or furniture are really worth what grandma says they are.
The Appraisers Road Show will be hitting the Hudson Valley on Sunday, April 22. Nationally recognized appraisers who are experts in the field will be sifting through your finds to determine its true value. Finally, you'll be able to find out if that old vase is ta valued treasure or just a piece of trash.
During a previous road shows the owners of some Japanese prints in Mechanicville found out that they were sitting on $55,000. An antique cupboard that was evaluated by one of the appraisers was recently auctioned off for $96,000. But the biggest discovery belongs a couple in Lake George who found out their old chair was worth just over one million dollars.
Everyone has one of those family heirlooms that they've been told is valuable, but don't really know if it's fact or legend. If you're brave enough to find out the truth, this may just be the event you've been waiting for.
The day-long road show will take place at the Locust Grove historic estate on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie on April 22 from 9am to 5pm. There are no reservations required, but visitors are asked to limit the amount of items they bring to five per person. A fee of $7 will be charged for each item.
There will also be an evening reception where the most valuable finds of the day will be revealed by the appraisers. Reservations are $75 per person and include food, wine and two free appraisals. You can find out more information at the Locust Grove website.
