Warren Buffett Buys Hudson Valley Real Estate Agency
Update 1/19/17 at 2:30pm - We included more information from a representative of Houlihan Lawrence that clarifies their brand will not undergo a name change.
Another real estate agency has been purchased by Warren Buffett's HomeServices of America.
National Mortgage Professional reports that Houlihan Lawrence has been sold for an undisclosed sum. The company, which was established back in 1888 in Rye Brooke, serves customers in Dutchess, Orange, Ulster and several other lower Hudson Valley counties.
Berkshire Hathaway purchased Prudential Real Estate in 2012. With this new acquisition the company will have an even bigger footprint in the Hudson Valley. Nationwide, the company now operates in 28 states and employs 29,500 real estate agents in close to 570 different offices.
A representative from Houlihan Lawrence tells us that their realtors will continue to operate independently and will not take the Berkshire Hathaway name. Houlihan Lawrence will be joining other established real estate brands that also operate in the HomeServices of America portfolio.
Houlihan Lawrence has locations in Milbrook, Lagrange and East Fishkill that offer mostly luxury and upscale homes and property for sale throughout the entire Hudson Valley area. Owners Stephen and Chris Meyers are expected to stay on after the transition while their sister, Nancy Meyers, has announced that she will step down as chairperson.
