Rhinebeck police arrested two Dutchess County men on Tuesday, Dec. 10 in connection with burglaries at a church and a business in the village. Stephen Dachs, 22, of Red Hook and Xavier Christiansen-Mulhern, 22, of Rhinebeck face burglary, petit larceny and criminal mischief charges, Officer Darren Bondar of the Rhinebeck Police Department announced Thursday, Dec. 12.

Rhinebeck officers responded to reports that the church, business and a shed were all broken into Tuesday morning and property stolen. Following the investigation, police took Dachs and Christiansen-Mulhern into custody. Police recovered the stolen property after a search warrant was executed in Rhinebeck.

Dachs was charged with three counts of burglary, two counts of petit larceny, two counts of criminal mischief, possession of stolen property, unlawful possession of marijuana and possession of an open container of alcohol. He was arraigned in the Village of Rhinebeck Justice Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.

Christiansen-Mulhern was charged with two counts of burglary, one count of petit larceny and one count of criminal mischief. He was arraigned in the Village of Rhinebeck Justice Court and released under an order to submit to electronic monitoring.

New York State Police and the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office assisted the Rhinebeck Police Department with the investigation, which is ongoing.
