An organization that brings veterans together out on the slopes is this week's Vets Who Rock organization.

Every month, 101.5 WPDH, MHA of Dutchess County and Mid-Hudson Pump shine a spotlight on a different veteran organization and donate $500 to help them continue their work. This month, we've selected Breezy Grenier and her organization, ShredVets.

ShredVets is an organization that provides Hudson Valley veterans with free participation in skiing and snowboarding at several local Mountain ski areas. Breezy and her volunteers introduce veterans with no skiing experience by suoolying them with free equipment and instruction.

Veterans involved in the winter program get to ski, ride and learn with their fellow veterans, enjoying the outdoors and healthy activity during a time of year that can be otherwise isolating and challenging for veterans.

This "camouflage therapy" allows veterans the opportunity to interact with others who are going through the same challenges and difficulties as they are in a no-pressure situation.  This relaxed environment leads to breakthroughs that traditional therapy might accomplish as quickly or successfully.

101.5 WPDH, MHA of Dutchess County and Mid-Hudson Pump are proud to present ShredVets with $500 to help support their work with veterans in the Hudson Valley. If you're a veteran interested in hitting the slopes, whether you have zero experience or are comfortable tackling the double black diamond runs, you can find out more about ShredVets' upcoming ski trips and programs on their website.
