Police: Woman Slams Into Central Hudson Van, Nearly Hits Employees
Two Central Hudson employees avoided injuries, after an allegedly intoxicated woman struck their parked van, which had emergency lights activated.
On Thursday, at approximately 1:02 p.m. Saugerties Police responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Cross Street near the intersection of Ulster Avenue in the Village of Saugerties.
Investigation determined that Patricia A. Wigginton, 54, of Saugerties was operating her vehicle southbound on Cross Street, when she rear-ended a parked Central Hudson Utility vehicle.
The Central Hudson vehicle was parked with it's emergency light activated when it was struck. The Central Hudson vehicle was pushed forwarded approximately two feet, nearly striking two employees that were standing nearby.
Wiggington was evaluated at the scene and taken into custody for operating her vehicle under the influence of alcohol. She submitted to a chemical test, which resulted in a .23 BAC.
She was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. Wigginton was arraigned and released with appearance tickets.
