
Police: Columbia County Man Fired Shotgun at Police
A Columbia County man was arrested after allegedly firing a shotgun at police.
On January 2, at approximately 10:25 p.m. Columbia County Deputies and State Troopers arrived at adomestic dispute possibly involving a shotgun.
Upon arrival, the suspect exited the residence and fired the shotgun at patrols. the suspect was later found hiding in a nearby vehicle.
The suspect was identified as Tyler Meltz, 33, of Hillsdale, N.Y. Meltz was taken into custody without further incident.
Meltz was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon third-degree, and Reckless Endangerment first-degree, both felonies.
He was arrigned and remanded to Columbia County Jail in lieu of $35,000 cash bail or $70,000 bond.
The New York State Police were also assisted by the Hillsdale Fire Department, Austerlitz Fire Department, Community Rescue, and the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office
