Nearly 100,000 Hudson Valley Residents Without Power

On Thursday, October 31, a major rainstorm rocked the Hudson Valley causing damage throughout the region.

Patch reports that at 12:30 p.m. on November 1, 2019, power companies were still working to restore power to almost 100,000 customers across the Hudson Valley. The storm that hit the region Halloween night brought two to five inches of rain and high-speed winds. Speeds reached up to 60 mph in the mid-Hudson Valley region. Downed trees caused traffic issues and damage in the area as well.

NYSEG reported to Patch that 59,443 customers were without power. 8,916 were in Dutchess County and 294 in Ulster County. Central Hudson reported 30,727 customers throughout Dutchess, Ulster, and Orange County were without power. Con Ed also reported that 3,649 were without power throughout the lower Hudson Valley region. Orange & Rockland Utilities said 4,228 customers were without power.

While most companies have not estimated what time power will be restored to its customers, it is expected for the majority of customers to have power by 5 p.m. on Friday, November 1, according to Patch. The remaining should have power by 11 p.m.
