Medical Emergency Primary Factor in Fatal Crash, Police Say
The crash occurred in Fishkill during rush hour Thursday evening.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. Thursday, deputies from the Dutchess COunty Sheriff's Office responded to 1140 Main Street in the Village of Fishkill for what was originally thought to be a multi-vehicle crash at that location.
Upon arrival it was determined to involve one vehicle with one occupant, with CPR in progress. The driver, identified as Don A. Tuangtuang, 62, of Newburgh was transported St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh where he was pronounced deceased.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that Mr. Tuangtuang was operating a 2002
Chevrolet pickup southbound on Church St, at which time it continued through the intersection with Main St without stopping and ultimately struck a stone wall and the building at 1140 Main Street.
At this time of the investigation and witness statements indicate that the primary factor in the crash appears to be a medical emergency that Mr. Tuangtuang had while driving.
The investigation is ongoing and additional information will released when it is made available.
