A New Jersey man allegedly claimed to live in Sullivan County with his kids stole over $13,000 in Medicaid benefits.

A joint investigation conducted by members of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Office of Inspector General’s Office. New York Office of Medicaid Inspector General and Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Task has resulted in the arrest of Alberto Gildelamadrid, 40, of Lodi New Jersey.

It is alleged that Gildelamadrid stole $13257.74 in Medicaid Benefits by claiming to live in Monticello, New York with his children when he actually lived alone in the state of New Jersey. He also failed to disclose that he was employed.

The suspect was charged with the Felonies of Welfare Fraud in the Third Degree, Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, Health Care Fraud in The Fourth Degree and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree.

He was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $2500.00 bail.

New York State Medicaid Inspector General Dennis Rosen said:

This arrest serves notice to those who attempt to exploit the Medicaid program for personal gain. My office will continue to work closely with our law enforcement partners to root out Medicaid fraud and hold wrongdoers fully accountable.
