Kellogg has announced that a criminal investigation is underway, after a video surfaces showing an employee urinating into the cereal at one of its factories.

Kellogg became aware of the video on Friday, after it was uploaded to the website World Star Hip Hop. The video shows an employee recording himself urinating into the cereal at one of the company's factories.

An internal investigation found that the video was recorded in 2014 at their Memphis, Tennessee factory , as reported by CNN. The urine likely affected Rice Krispies Treats, Rice Krispies Treats cereal, and puffed rice cake products. All of these products would be past their expiration date at this point.

A spokeman for Kellogg's said:

We were shocked and deeply disappointed by this video that we just learned of yesterday. Food quality is of the utmost importance to Kellogg Company. We are outraged by this completely unacceptable situation. We immediately alerted law enforcement authorities and regulators.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has started a criminal investigation.
