Hudson Valley Carl’s Jr. Closes Down After Eight Months

After just eight months, a local Carl's Jr. is closed for business.

In August all of the Hudson Valley Hardee's locations became Carl's Jr. The two fast food restaurants are owned by the same company and share many of the same menu items. Despite the similarities, the business decided to rebrand Hardee's in the Hudson Valley as Carl's Jr. in an effort to boost sales. Unfortunately, it appears as if it didn't work at one location.

According to reports from customers, the Carl's Jr. on Ulster Avenue in Kingston closed on Friday. A photo submitted by Brian Shaughnessey shows the building's signs missing and the restaurant gone dark.

The Carl's Jr. website no longer lists the Kingston location on their map. The two other locations in Poughkeepsie and Middletown remain open, but customers wonder if it's just a matter of time before they close too.

Cibo, a gourmet lunch spot located next to the Poughkeepsie Carl's Jr., closed late last year. It would certainly be a shame if Carl's Jr. also shuts down, creating another vacancy on Route 9. The stretch of highway between Poughkeepsie and Wappingers is already home to a zombie Golden Corral that still sits empty to this day.
