Hudson Valley Apples Set To Be Bigger, Brighter This Fall
Hudson Valley apples will be bigger and brighter this fall according to Cornell University experts.
Syracuse.com reports the reason is because of rain early in the season along with the hot days and cool evenings we've experienced up until now. The amount of recent cool evenings has been ideal for color and quality of apples according to Professor Susan Brown.
It's true that too much rain can be problematic for apples which can lead to fungal diseases but much of that was kept in check. It's also true that apples weren't affected all that much by insects this year. Brown also stated that several apple varieties are becoming ready up to two weeks late this season.
