Scattered strong thunderstorms continue to pop up across the Hudson Valley Friday afternoon, including a fast moving powerful storm that rolled through parts of Poughkeepsie and Hyde Park.

The Poughkeepsie Journal is reporting that five people were hurt after a possible lightning strike at Mansion Square Park in the City of Poughkeepsie.

Three of the victims reportedly suffered injuries that are considered life threatening.

The injured people were taken to Vassar Brothers Medical Center and Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital.

Officials are currently investigating.

An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect for the area until 6:00 p.m. Friday, and then again from 11:00 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday. Temperatures Saturday are expected to reach well into the 90s with Heat Indices over 105 degrees.

There is a chance for more storms across the region this weekend.
