Cheesy Hallmark Christmas Film Takes Place in Pleasant Valley
Fans of Hallmark holiday movies should keep their eyes open for one story set right here in Dutchess County.
This time of year the Hallmark Channel cranks out a crazy amount of cheesy movies to satisfy even the sappiest holiday romantic. A few of this year's new films were actually filmed right here in our area, including Christmas Camp and Last Vermont Christmas. Both of those movies were shot in and around the Rhinebeck area.
Another film, however, actually takes place in the Hudson Valley. Christmas Wonderland tells the story of Heidi, a successful art gallery curator, played by Emily Osment, who returns to her hometown of Pleasant Valley for the holidays. If you've ever seen any of these Hallmark films before you probably already know that Heidy bumps into an old high school sweetheart who never left the small town. This time the old flame needs help finding a new location for the town's Christmas dance. Of course, Heidi lends her assistance and they find the perfect place, Wonderland Farms.
The use of the name Wonderland Farms is interesting because there is a real Wonderland Farms in Rhinebeck that was actually used as a filming location for both Christmas Camp and Last Vermont Christmas. As far as we can tell, however, Christmas Wonderland wasn't filmed anywhere near the Hudson Valley. Even the cutaway shots of "Pleasant Valley" look to be filmed outside our area.

Christmas Wonderland premieres on December 1 at 9pm on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
