Newburgh is proud of its history, as it should be. Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site in Newburgh will once again be celebrating George Washington's Birthday the weekend of Feb. 15 -17 from noon-4pm at the site on the corner of Liberty and Washington Streets in Newburgh.

There will be music, military demonstrations, crafts for kids and adults, and historical presentations.  All three days the General will be greeting visitors in his office and balladeer Thad McGregor will be offering musical entertainment in the dining room.  On the grounds, reenactors will be performing military drills.  Lectures and talks are scheduled throughout the weekend, and children and adults are invited to create their own bookplate to use in their books at home.

Sing “Happy Birthday” to the as he cuts into his birthday cake, officially starting the day’s festivities. Have a piece of cake and prepare to enjoy all that each day offers: demonstrations, topical talks, historical presentations and a take-home craft.

Admission for this weekend's activities is free, though donations are welcome. For details and a full schedule, visit the facebook event page.
