A sign posted in front of a local tattoo shop is getting rave reviews from local residents.

Queen City Tattoo on Main Street in Poughkeepsie isn't mincing words when it comes to acceptable behavior in front of their store. The tattoo and piercing business is part of the current revival happening in the City of Poughkeepsie. New businesses continue to pop up throughout the city, with owners doing their best to revitalize neighborhoods and give back to the community.

It can seem like an uphill battle for some businesses that are the first to invest money in down-and-out neighborhoods. That appears to be something that Queen City Tattoo is currently dealing with on Main Street.

A series of signs are now posted in front of the store aimed at discouraging people from using or selling drugs near the business. But it's how the message is phrased that's getting attention from customers and local residents.

The sign says,

If you're looking for dope, don't wait here. This isn't the spot. This isn't the block. This is a place of business.

If you're looking for help you're welcome with open arms.

Recovery is an option, come ask about it.

Sincerely, Queen City Tattoo.

Many who have read the message are applauding Queen City Tattoo for their compassion. The blunt warning is made even more powerful by the business' offer to help those who are battling addiction. Kudos to Queen City Tattoo for helping to revitalize Main Street, while not forgetting about those who are already living there.
