What could it be this time, car warranty? Maybe my grandchild is sick and they need money?

There's always scammers out there trying to get your hard earned money, and it seems that another familiar scam has returned to claim more victims.

The latest scam involves fake computer viruses. The victims receive a pop-up on their computer or phone from a "tech" company, which says that their computer has a virus. The perpetrator then states that they can clean the computer and block other virusesfor a nominal fee.

After the fee is paid they apologize and say that they were unable to fix it, and then offer to refund the money but state that they can only refund it via online banking.

Once the victim provides their account number, perpetrator then withdraws money from their account. Past scams include IRS and relative arrested scams, which are still active in our area.
