Sheriff’s Deputies Saves Man’s Life in Hudson Valley Diner

Two sheriffs were sitting down for a meal at a local diner when they jumped in to save a man's life.

On Monday, April 29 at approximately 1AM, Deputy Sheriffs Matthew Robbins and Justin McFadden were having a meal at the 24/7 Diner on the grounds of the Resorts World Casino in the Town of Thompson.

The deputies were alerted to a male patron in the diner who was choking. While McFadden alerted medical personnel, Robbins performed the Heimlich maneuver on the patron who had slumped over and passed out.

The deputy was able to dislodge the piece of food and the man began breathing again. The victim was examined by emergency medical personnel and refused further medical aid.

Robbins just graduated from the Police Academy on March 15. McFadden is his field training officer.
