Rabid Raccoon Attacks Three in Lower Hudson Valley

Things got a little crazy in Post Chester over the weekend. CBS NY is reporting that a rabid raccoon attacked three people Sunday. Westchester Health officials say the victims were an 84 year-old woman, a 75 year-old man, and a 33 year-old man.

Officials say the pissed off critter met its end when the 33 year-old victim's father took a shovel to its head.

The raccoon's body was tested for rabies and the results came back positive, according to CBS. All three people bitten are receiving rabies treatment.

The 33 year-old man told CBS he was simply standing on the sidewalk when the animal came out of nowhere and but him on the ankle. Police are currently searching the area to see if any other animals could be infected. CBS says officials have been focusing on an abandoned house where they believe the raccoon had been staying.
