The sign out front says they're closed for "electrical problems" but an employee has confirmed that a long-time Hudson Valley restaurant is out of business.

The door to Bugaboo Creek Steak House on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie was locked on Monday morning. The sign out front said it was an electrical problem, but manager Mike Weed confirmed that the restaurant would not be reopening.

Weed would not comment any further, but workers could be seen inside taking down some of the framed artwork from the walls. Bugaboo Creek Steak House was famous for it's lively ambiance that featured humorous animatronic animals. The robotic animals that adorned the restaurant's walls would greet customers and announce menu specials, while others would pop out of barrels and other objects, startling some diners while delighting others.

In recent years, the animals had fallen on disrepair and the ambiance had become increasingly less lively that it once was. Although some renovations were done at the end of last year, the current Yelp rating stands at just 2.5 stars.

It's unclear why the steak house finally closed down, but it's no secret that many family restaurants have fallen on hard times. As of the publishing of this article, there have been no reports of other Bugaboo Creek restaurants affected by the closure.

We want to know what you think. Are you disappointed to hear Bugaboo Creek has closed down? Or are you not surprised by this turn of events?
