An undercover operation managed by New York State Police led to the arrest of two Hudson Valley store clerks who sold alcohol to a minor.

This week, State Police conducted an underage drinking enforcement operation. With the help of an 18-year-old volunteer, fifteen Dutchess County stores were tested to see if they would sell alcohol to a minor. The minor was being watched by plainclothes investigators and supported by uniformed troopers.

Two store clerks were arrested after they allowed the 18-year-old to purchase alcohol. Singh Onkar, 51, of Pougheekpsiee and 34-year-old, Stony Point resident, Krishan R. Patel were both charged with the misdemeanor of unlawful dealing with a minor. Onkar allowed the purchase to take place at an Exxon Gas Station in Poughkeepsie. Patel was working at a Mobil Gas Station in LaGrange

Both were issued appearance tickets to appear in local courts at a later date and released. In addition, their employers face possible civil penalties imposed by the State Liquor Authority.
