Police: 16 Impaired Drivers Removed From Roadways Over the Weekend

In an effort to remove intoxicated and impaired drivers from the roadways, state troopers arrested 16 individuals over the weekend.

Troopers from Dutchess, Columbia, Putnam, and Westchester Counties have been cracking down and making multiple arrests for intoxicated and impaired driving.

Over this past week 16 individuals were removed from the roadways. While most were charged with misdemeanors for driving while intoxicated, or driving while ability impaired, some were charged with felonies, according to a press release.

On January 7, 2017, Anthony J. Testerman, 26, of Wappingers Falls, NY, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, a Class E Felony. Testerman was charged with Felony DWI due to a previous DWI related conviction from 2015. The defendant provided a breath sample that revealed a Blood Alcohol Content of .10%. He is due in court at a later date.

On January 8, 2017, John Barberan, 51, of Fishkill, NY, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a Felony. Barberan was charged with Felony DWI when Troopers discovered that he was convicted of a DWI related offense in 2009. The Defendant was arraigned in the Village of Wappinger Falls Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $3,000 bond.

Intoxicated drivers put others at risk. It is a priority of the State Police to keep impaired drivers off of our roadways.
