Members of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office along with officers from Poughkeepsie, Redhook, Hyde Park, Millerton, and East Fishkill conducted impaired driver details and it resulted in 58 arrests in Dutchess County.

Officers made 57 impaired driving arrests and one other arrest. The details were fund by the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee and NY STOP-DWI Foundation which for the 4th year in a row was once again awarded a “Crackdown Enforcement Grant” for the 2016-2017 Crackdown periods.

Dutchess County STOP-DWI Coordinator Williams Johnson said:

Once again we acknowledge the efforts and commitment of Law Enforcement personnel who worked throughout the Holiday crackdown to ensure safety on the roadways for all of us. The enhanced, coordinated presence afforded by participation in the NYS STOP-DWI Foundation’s Crackdown grant project reinforces our message that impaired driving enforcement remains a priority in Dutchess County

Out of the 58 arrests, most were charged with misdemeanors, however there were individuals charged with felonies:

Rodney Williams (56) of Poughkeepsie, NY was charged with DWI a Felony in the Town of Poughkeepsie.  The DWI was a felony since Williams had a prior conviction for DWI within the prior ten years.  

Antonio Reyes- Cuevas (44) of Millerton, NY was charged with DWI, Aggravated DWI (BAC .18% or more) and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st all felonies in the Town of Amenia.   The DWI charges were felonies since Reyes-Cuevas had a prior conviction for DWI within the prior ten year.  The AUO charge was a felony since his license was revoked for a DWI conviction and he was intoxicated while operating the vehicle.

Melinda Brooker (25) of Poughkeepsie, NY was charged with DWI & BAC .08% or more both misdemeanors as well as Aggravated DWI (Leandra’s Law) a felony.  The Aggravated DWI was a felony since she was operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition while having a child less than 16 yoa in the vehicle.
