Reports say that Legoland executives have already started purchasing property in Orange County for an enormous theme park and resort to open in 2019.

Almost two years ago we reported that Legoland was looking to build a theme park in the Hudson Valley area. Since then, there have been bids from various communities hoping to bring the project to them.

In March we spoke to County Executive, Steve Neuhaus, who said he was "over 90 percent" certain that Legoland would be coming to Orange County.

Now the Times Herald Record is reporting that a "handful of property owners" have already begun negotiating with Legoland as the company zeroes in on a site in Orange County. We spoke with the County Executive's office this week and they told us that there was still no official announcement yet, but things were "plugging all along." Neuhaus told us in March that he expected to have a deal finished "in the next month or so" in order for construction to begin this summer.

The County Executive says that the county's ability to get quick approvals is why Orange is in such a great position to land the project. Legoland has set a deadline of 2019 to welcome their first guest to the park, so time is of the essence.

Neuhaus also promised that he would be making the official announcement live on 101.5 WPDH from a local grammar school, so stay tuned for what we hope to be some exciting news for the Hudson Valley very soon.
