Truck Rollover Near New York State Thruway

According to the Woodbury Fire Department, the crash happened around 6 a.m. when a truck pulling a trailer loaded with large sheets of metal and other materials rolled over on the southbound on-ramp from Route 17 at Exit 16 of the New York State Thruway.

The crash caused sheets of metal to spill out of the trailer and scatter across the roadway, creating an extremely dangerous situation for approaching drivers.

Ramp Closed for Hours

Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, shutting down the ramp to prevent further accidents and to allow crews to safely begin cleanup efforts. The scattered metal debris made conditions especially hazardous, requiring a careful and time-consuming removal process.

Traffic in the area was significantly impacted throughout the morning commute, with drivers forced to find alternate routes while first responders worked to clear the scene.
