A neighborhood conflict turned ugly when a man ended up getting stabbed in the chest.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, sheriff's deputies arrived at an incredibly gruesome scene. They responded to a 911 call on Sunday at 2:15AM and found a man in his Philipstown apartment bleeding heavily from a chest wound.

An ambulance transported the man to to Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, since his apartment house was located off U.S. Route 9 close to the Putnam-Dutchess county line.

Authorities say 28-year-old Raymond Hickey attacked his neighbor after an argument over noise escalated outside their apartments. Hickey allegedly stabbed the other man once in the chest, striking his heart. Investigators recovered a knife at the scene that is believed to be the one that inflicted the wound, according to to the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

The victim is in stable condition after receiving emergency surgery to repair a laceration in his heart.

Hickey was charged with felony assault and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bail bond. He will return to court on May 13.
