Former Hudson Valley Cop Implicated in Middletown Murder-Suicide
A neighbor found the bodies of a former police officer and his wife in the garage of their residence.
On January 15, the City of Middletown was notified by 911 of a potential death investigation at a home on Vincent Drive in the City of Middletown. Police arrived on the scene and made contact with a female neighbor.
The neighbor stated that she found the male and female residents dead in the garage of the home from apparent gunshot wounds. The neighbor advised that she had responded to the home after the woman didn't report to work for her scheduled nursing shift at a local hospital.
A preliminary investgation revealed that the male resident, Francis J. Pumillo, 55, of Vincent Drive fatally shot his wife, Amanda Pumillo, 45. The two lived together at the residence.
There does not appear to be any other involved parties in the incident, and the weapon used was legally possessed by Francis, a retired law enforcement officer from a police department in Westchester County.
The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing. Additional information will be released if it becomes available.
This is the second time in eight days that the City of Middletown Police Department has responded to a domestic violence-related murder/suicide.
In both incidents, both individuals who committed these fatal shootings and took their own lives were members of law enforcement.
