The doomed Golden Corral building on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie is back on sale, and it may be a sign that the business will open again soon.

But don't count on it being a Golden Corral.

A large sign went up this week in front of the Route 9 business announcing that the 11,400-square-foot building was back on sale. A call to the broker confirmed that the building was, in fact, on the market. However, it doesn't seem likely that the building would reopen as a Golden Corral because the property is being sold either with or without the kitchen equipment.

In an old real estate listing from last year the seller claimed the business came with a "million-dollar equipment and fixture package" that would be perfect for "an Asian buffet."

We spoke with a representative of the seller who told us the building is in perfect condition, since the restaurant was only open for a few weeks. While there is hope that a Golden Corral franchisee would just come and snatch up the location, we're not holding our breath. It's even more unlikely that a different chain restaurant would take over the building, since most chain restaurants find it more cost effective to build from scratch instead of retro-fitting their brand into another design.

What would you like to see happen to the Golden Corral building on Route 9?  Should it remain a restaurant or do you have another good idea for the property?  Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below, or on our Facebook page.
