Don't Fall For Fake Draft Text Messages

With everything happening overseas it can be easy to fall for something like this.

ABC7 NY is reporting that the Army is warning people of fake military draft messages going around.

In a press release, the U.S. Army Recruiting Command says they have "received multiple calls and emails about these fake text messages and wants to ensure Americans understand these texts are false and were not initiated by this command or the U.S. Army."

In the fraudulent message, it says "You'll be fined and sent to jail for a minimum of 6 years if no reply." Obviously, that is not true considering the text message is fake. The U.S. Army Recruiting Command confirms that if there were some kind of national emergency " Congress and the President would need to pass official legislation to authorize a draft."

There hasn't been a draft since 1973 during the Vietnam War.
