There is definitely not a lack of things to do here in the Hudson Valley during the holiday season. The big problem is deciding which things to do. If you're looking to see how Christmas was celebrated back in the day, head to Hyde Park this Sunday, Dec. 3 for the Annual Christmas Open House at Vanderbilt Mansion on Route 9.

This annual holiday celebration starts at 10 am and will go on all day into the evening. Enjoy free admission and self-guided visits of the decorated mansion. And don't forget to bring your camera so you can have your picture taken in front of the Christmas tree. As a special treat the dining room table will be set with a variety of Vanderbilt china and crystal rarely on exhibit. There will also be music, refreshments, a visit from the park mascot and a 20% discount in the Museum Shop.

No reservations or tickets are needed, just get the family together, hop in the car, and head to the mansion. For more information, visit their facebook page.
