Cases Of The Flu Increasing Across New York State

New statistics released Wednesday show sharp inclines in lab-confirmed cases of the flu across New York State. Governor Cuomo's office is encouraging residents to get their flu shot if they haven't done so already.

Flu season traditionally runs October to May and there have already been 4,989 confirmed cases. Of that number, 1,040 have been hospitalized with one flu-associated pediatric death reported.

In the Mid Hudson region, Rockland and Westchester counties currently have the most confirmed cases with 99 and 60 respectively. There are 32 confirmed cases in Orange County but only five each in Putnam and Dutchess counties. Sullivan County had two cases confirmed while Ulster County had just one. These stats are pulled from the New York State 'Flu-Tracker' and you can follow along each week HERE. Information for the tracker is updated every Thursday at 5 PM.
