Busy Hudson Valley Dunkin’ Donuts Location is Closed

If you stop at this popular Dunkin' for your morning coffee, you'll want to make other arrangements this month.

Caution tape is preventing customers from even entering the parking lot of the Dunkin' Donuts on Route 9. The popular morning stop in front of Toys R' Us in Poughkeepsie went dark last week with little warning to customers.

Signs on the front door simply say that the Dunkin' Donuts store is closed, directing customers to visit one of the other nearby locations. A Town of Poughkeepsie plumbing permit is also posted in the window, indicating that construction is being done on the restaurant. The parking lot also shows evidence of pipe work.

Parking lots for all of the adjacent buildings were recently repaved, suggesting that this may just be part of the improvements being made to the shopping plaza. Our calls to the restaurant went unanswered and there is no recorded message with further information about the closing.

We did talk to a representative at the Dunkin' Donuts just a few miles south who told us that they do expect the store to eventually reopen, but no timeline was given. The Route 9 location is still listed on the Dunkin' Donuts website.

We received this email from Dunkin' Donuts in response to our article:

The Dunkin Donuts in Poughkeepsie located on 2580 South Rd (near Toys R Us), is closed temporarily due to sewer line replacement work
What started as a one day project turned into several. Our intent was to repair an outside grease trap and surrounding sewer pipes within 20-40 ft.
Due to the extent of the replacement of the pipe, we need to connect to the main sewer line.
We are planning to open tomorrow 06/26/18 with health department's blessing and get back to business and our loyal customers!
This was started as a simple repair by the Franchisee of the independently owned and operated Dunkin Donuts that unfortunately turned out to be a major project.
We thank you all for your patience and apologize for any inconvenience.
