4 Schools in Dover District Evacuated After Bomb Threat, Police Say
The Dover Union Free School District has evacuated four schools this morning while police are looking into a bomb threat that has been reported by the Poughkeepsie Journal.
The following schools have been evacuated: Dover High School, Dover Middle School, Dover Elementary School, and Wingdale Elementary, all as a result of this threat. Captain John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office reported to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
All students are reportedly safe at this time as the investigation is underway. In light of the Parkland, Florida tragedy all precautions are being taken. School authorities state their safety policy will be reviewed:
In the coming days,our District Safety Committee, comprised of Dover Board of Education members, administrators, teachers, nurses, the transportation director, and officers from the NYS Police and Dutchess County Sheriff's Office will jury the safety plan revisions to ensure that they are feasible and meet the needs of our school community.
