Accident in the Adirondacks claims the Life of EMS Lieutenant

An accident in the Adirondacks has claimed the life of a New York City fire department EMS lieutenant.

According to a Facebook post by the FDNY Women’s Benevolent Association, Lieutenant JoAnn Restko reportedly fell off a mountain near Lake George.

Press Connects reports that the accident happened Saturday afternoon at Roaring Brook Falls in the town of Keene, New York.

Essex County Coroner Francis Whitelaw says the 37-year-old Restko was with a friend when she decided to take a picture near the top of the ledge on her own. The friend says Restko disappeared.

Restko's body was found at the base of Roaring Brook, about eighty to one hundred feet below.
