A town in Westchester County has decided to raise the legal smoking age to 21.

More and more cities are raising the age of smoking from 18 to 21 years of  age. Just a few months ago, Orange County, Rockland County and Sullivan voted and passed the new age hike. According to News 12, We can now add Westchester to that mix because New Castle is the latest town in New York that will prohibit tobacco use to people under 21.

Lawmakers are also starting to add more restrictions to vape products as well.

According to AM New York, statistics show that the amount of people who smoke is at an all time low and that the adult smoking rate is roughly 14%.

Are these new rules too extreme or necessary in order to ensure that number continues to diminish?
