A concert that sounds more like an endurance competition than a musical event will be happening in the Hudson Valley this month.

The 24-Hour Drone is scheduled to start on Saturday, April 27 at noon. Chanting, whistling, moaning and other noises will hover in the air until Sunday at noon when, for better or worse, the concert finally concludes.

Labeled as "Experiments in Sound and Music," the concert features "musicians and sound artists experimenting with sustained tones, creating a full twenty-four hours of unbroken sound."

My first thought was that this seems more like torture than a concert, but promoters promise that attendees "will be rewarded with the intangible feeling of meditative contentment, pure bliss, and communal collaboration." We were able to find some video of a previous 24-hour drone concert so you can judge for yourself.

Honestly, I couldn't even get through the video. But I'm sure there are some people who find watching dancers dressed in tin foil and swinging whistles around in the air fun. If you think lying in a sleeping bag on a concrete floor while watching a show like this is a groovy way to spend the weekend, you're in luck. Tickets for the 24-Hour Drone are still available at Basilica Hudson.
