A Hudson Valley man was allegedly driving over 3 times legal limit of intoxication when he drove the wrong-way on the Taconic and crashed into a car.

Wednesday around 8:40 p.m., State Police from Cortlandt responded to a report of a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes on the Taconic State Parkway.

Responding officers found a two-car collision near mile post marker 7.1 in the northbound lanes of the Taconic.

An investigation indicated that 22-year-old Sawyer R. White of White Plains was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes and struck 62-year-old Michael Ioannidis of Poughkeepsie, head-on, police say.

White was found to be intoxicated at the time of the crash, officials allege.

Ioannidis was transported to Westchester Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

White was also taken to Westchester Medical Center. He was evaluated and released.

White supplied a breath sample that yielded a blood alcohol level of .27%, more than three times the legal limit of intoxication, authorities say.

White was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, speeding, and several other vehicle and traffic offenses. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Mount Pleasant Court on Jan 19.
