Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers released their third studio album Damn the Torpedoes in 1979. The band's breakthrough album, it peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and ranked number 313 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. It was kept away from the No. 1 spot by Pink Floyd's The Wall. Singles included "Don't Do Me Like That", "Refugee", and "Here Comes My Girl". Some reviews have said that Damn the Torpedoes is "one of the greatest records of the album rock era".
