Woman Arrested After Puppy Found Drowned in New Jersey
A New Jersey woman is accused of drowning a 10-week-old puppy just outside the Hudson Valley.
On Monday, the Passaic County Prosecutor and West Milford Police Department announced the arrest of 47-year-old Tonya Fea following the investigation into a 10-week old golden retriever found fatally submerged in a weighted cage in a New Jersey pond.
The Greenwood Lake Animal Hospital announced last week the 10-week-old golden retriever was found dead in a pond in West Milford Township off Bonter Road.
The puppy was subsequently taken to the New Jersey Department of Agriculture’s Animal Health Diagnostic Laboratory where a necropsy was performed. Based on the investigation, Fea was charged with two counts of animal cruelty and defiant trespass.
Police didn't release how their investigation led to Fea's arrest. The 47-year-old faces up to five years in state prison if convicted.
