Study: Is New York the Best State For Police Officers?
National Police Week kicks off May 12, and New York seems to be a very good spot to land for for pursuing a career in law enforcement.
So what qualities define a good place to live and work for police? Well, there's a $63,380 mean annual salary, which exceeds all other occupations. The benefits are also very good, and officers also may begin drawing full retirement benefits as early as age 40, depending on when they entered the force.
In order to determine the best states to pursue a career in law enforcement, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 27 key indicators of police-friendliness.
New York was ranked as the best state to be a police officer.
