Firefighters from around the region will be gathering on Monday morning to attend the funeral of one of their own. As a result, there will be considerable traffic delays due to closed roads.

Timothy Gunther passed away on Tuesday from cardiac-related complications after battling a fire on Church Street in Poughkeepsie. Gunther's funeral is scheduled for Monday morning at the Mid Hudson Civic Center, and according to the Poughkeepsie Journal, will close several roads between 9am and noon.

The City of Poughkeepsie fire truck that Gunther was assigned to will carry his body from McHoul Funeral Home in Hopewell Junction to the Public Safety Building on Main Street in Poughkeepsie for a brief ceremony, before continuing to the Mid Hudson Civic Center.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that the procession will leave the East Fishkill funeral home around 9:30 and arrive at the Civic Center at 10:30. Route 82 will not be closed, but you should expect to see extra police presence and temporary stoppages while the procession passes.

The following streets will be closed during the procession:
Main Street from Hamilton Street to the westbound arterial
Market Street between both arterials.
Columbus Drive between Main Street and the westbound arterial.

County and city buses will continue to run from Market Street, between Church and Cannon streets, but the Columbus Drive terminal will be closed.

Parking will also be forbidden on the closed streets, but those attending the services will be able to park near the Grandview in Poughkeepsie, with shuttle service to and from the Civic Center.
