Eggbert has been a Hudson Valley Christmas tradition for generations. We caught up with the talking egg's owners and found out some interesting facts about Eggbert.

In 1971 Jack Devitt purchased Eggbert, a former mascot for eggs, and turned him into a promotional attraction on his farm in New Windsor. The plexiglass egg has been holding court each holiday season, inviting children of the Hudson Valley to visit and tell him their holiday wishes.

In 1999 Eggbert made his final appearance before a hiatus that lasted for 11 years. There were rumors that the famed egg was lost in a fire on the farm, but that actually wasn't true. Joe and Chris, the current owners of Eggbert, explain what happened to Eggbert during that time, how much he weighs and what percentage of children run from him in fear each year in this in-depth interview.

If you'd like to visit Eggbert this year, Devitt's Nursery on Route 32 in New Windsor will be opening their display on Friday, November 27 starting at 10am. Hours will continue on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through the holiday season. You can get the exact hours and information on special events, including a meet and greet with the Frozen princesses, on Eggbert's official website.
